Giving
Giving is part of becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ. The God of the Bible is a God of grace, not a god of guilt. He is the God of blessing, not a god of bashing. God is for you and He wants to bless you! Our God is a giver, not a taker and He wants to grow His children to reflect the same kind of heart. He wants us to become God-hearted. The heart of God is one of generosity. As we grow in the love of giving we actually become more God-hearted and thereby grow spiritually!
Giving is a part of stewardship. Stewardship is managing life’s tangible blessings according to God’s purposes. Stewardship is discipleship.
Giving not only grows our faith but it grows God’s flock, the local church! The Dialogue Church is supported by the faithful tithes and offerings of its members and regular attenders. Every financial gift is 100% tax deductible.
God’s desire is that we become a fully resourced church in order to fully reach this world! As we commit to fully resourcing His Church, God commits to fully resourcing His children! Blessing always follows giving. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Financial gifts to the church come in two primary ways: tithes & offerings.
At The Dialogue Church we practice the spiritual habit of “tithing” as laid out in the Bible (Mal.3:10; Deut.14:23; Pro.3:9) as well as giving above and beyond the tithe, called “offerings”.
Tithing is “bringing the first 10% of my gross weekly income to my local church.” Tithing is really about trusting. God is not after your wallet, He’s after your worship. Your worship is wired to your wallet. God doesn’t need our money, but we need to give in order to grow. The motivation for giving is maturity, or growing in our love for God and others! Because God is generous by nature He wants to cultivate the same spirit of generosity within His Church!
An “offering” is anything we give above and beyond the “tithe” (the first ten percent of one’s income). From time to time we work together as a church family to give above and beyond the tithe toward the mission of reaching New England for Jesus Christ!
